Help: Reichert polyvar 2 DIC transmit

#1 Post by foxfoxtian » Thu Dec 02, 2021 11:19 am

Hi,

I have boght a reichert polyvar 2. But when received it, I found that the noseppiece has RMS screws that can fit my 28mm objectivs. Is there anyone have the right objectives?

Now I need Objectivs,up prism and analyzer. Is there anyone can help? If you have the items, please contact me. Thanks a lot!

Is the 160mm objective fit for Plyvar 2?

It sounds like you bought a transmitted illumination ( diascopic ) microscope with an R.M.S. nosepiece but want to use existing episcopic 28mm objectives on it? There are 28mm nosepieces available, usually motorized but they are often in the 400.00 + range.

There were no episcopic R.M.S. objectives for that microscope.
160mm objectives would be unlikely to work but it is possible , although a costly experiment .

Thanks for you reply.
I want to use trasmitted illumination. I have the DIC condenser with 8 stop. I made a mistake, the 28mm can not be fit for the microscope. Now I have to find the R.M.S objective. But it seems hard to see. The analyser and prism is also like very rear.

If you search for Reichert objectives, the R.M.S. infinity objectives will show up but they are not that common. Most will still be in use. There are usually some planachros around for sale and at sub. 100.00 prices but other colour corrections are a bit rare. Diligence will find them. Search on ebay.de or ebay.at. but they show up globally because Reichert were big exporters. I have found objectives in Canada, U.S., Austria, Finland, Israel, Germany and England.

All will be marked ∞/.17 or for the low magnifications -/.17. Objectives of Plan, PlanFluor Apo or PlanApo exist and those mfg. for the Polyvar microscopes or Univar microscopes will have an iris diaphragm if over .70 N.A.

Thanks a lot. I will try.

The other pluzzled problem is the prism. There is 2 pictures:Pic 1 and 2 is diffrent. What is the right one, or both are ok ?

Can I use 28mm EPI objectives by using RMS-28mm converter?

I can't tell much about the prisms by looking at them. You could use the epi objectives . Your parfocal length will increase by the depth of the adapter. Only the few low power ones marked -/.17 will work for transmitted illumination, the rest for epi only.

Congrats on your purchase!

Do you have photos of everything you got?

I have a Polyvar '1' with both transmitted and reflected light. I have a mix of objectives as well. Some 28mm, some RMS. When using the RMS, I use an RMS-to-28mm adapter which also extends the objective length by 11mm (if I recall correctly). You can use any infinity objectives, I assume, you'll just need adapters. You have the RMS or 28mm objective turret?

I have some parts and pieces from another Polyvar that I disassembled. I may have pieces you are looking for, but not much. Just ask and I can take a look.

Hi, I'am very lucky to meet you.
I have the polyvar 2 with out objecitve, prism and analyzer slider as the picture below.

I think the prism, anlayser and objective is missing. The polarizer I can use an other one to replace.
The prism of objective end have 3 version. I don't if it is universal.
So many puzzle might be consoult you. many thanks.

The prism has 3 version, It seems like a same one. Can I user pol cube instead of analyzer?

For some reason I can't see the photos you posted.

The Nomarski only works with the Pol cube. If you are using transmitted light, you don't need the Pol cube or Nomarski prism. If you are using reflected light, then you can use the Pol cube with Nomarski prism for DIC imaging. Try to upload your images differently and I can see what you have and advise.

I don't think this is a dic prism, or perhaps it could be a dic prism but more likely for leica microscope.

Do you know if this cube can be used to analyser?

And what is this slider used for as below?

I'm using the Polarizer Cube with Nomarski module, but it's not an Analyzer. I haven't seen the Analyzer anywhere yet except for the one in this post: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=8906&p=76871&hilit= ... zer#p76871

I look on Ebay every day for new items being posted and for the last 2 years, nothing has come up. These items are very hard to find.

It's a great microscope, you just need to find the parts for it. Also check ebay.co.uk and ebay.at, they have items that aren't listed on ebay.com sometimes and the sellers are willing to ship internationally.

What kind of microscopy will you be doing with it?
