Is this a good scope for a beginner, price ok?

That's a good solid scope for dissection resolution maybe not top notch but quite pleasurable to use. It's a workhorse alright. Price is a tad steep, although that's a good stand and it appears more or.less.complete and with assurances. It's more like a $150 scope with an extra layer of polish I guess. You could do worse.

Joe, assuming it is (as described) in very good condition - it will be a better scope than $400 or so might get you new.
Ideally you are close by, so the shipping cost will be low. You'll want to inspect it immediately upon receipt to make sure the two optical paths are aligned, that the zoom remains parfocal, and that it doesn't have dust or haze inside from a life doing something like soldering. That way you can return it if need be.
