Light power and DoF

#1 Post by imkap » Fri Jan 28, 2022 1:28 pm

If I get a more powerful light I could have a larger depth of field? Having more light when closing the iris?

Thanks

The answer ist no. Closing own the iris will reduce resolution.

There is a hard trade-off between high NA (high resolution and low field of depth) and low NA (low resolution with high field of depth).

It my reduce resolution but it gives you so much more depth of field that you can see things that are otherwise not visible. You sometimes have to lower light levels (I use software) to make things visible.
