Specimen Storage Time

#1 Post by Peter-J » Wed Feb 23, 2022 10:13 pm

Could you please tell me how long I can keep my pond samples or moss samples. Is there any way to prolong or increase the life and activity. Day two with my new microscope.

First attempt at a picture today with my I phone 5s. (No laughing please)

Onwards and upwards. I wish I’d started this hobby 50 years ago.

I have a container I filled around September I still sample from. The populations have changed, but there's still critters in it. I've read that one should add a few drops of milk or a grain of cooked rice from time to time to provide food. I'm looking forward to the thaw and getting fresh samples.

Peter-J:
No one is laughing. Great start to a fascinating hobby. Taking photos through a microscope is not as easy as it may seem. There are too many parameters to consider.
