Tending the jarred pond

#1 Post by imkap » Mon Aug 01, 2022 10:41 pm

Hi, I was in Switzerland for a few days and amongst other things we made a hiking trip, so I took a sample of some muddy lake. It is full of life, I'd like to keep it for some time, but I probably won't be home much this month. Also I did a sample of a sung lake Geneva, with some algae...

I think it might start smelling real bad in a few days, so I'm wondering how does one tend a jarred lake sample... Is it possible to keep it for longer, should I filter the mud out or something?
I didn't buy any magnets or other souvenirs so... :D

Thanks

Put the jar in indirect lighting, make sure it's open to the air and has enough water that the whole thing doesn't dry out.
