Bought an Olympus BH2 w/ a polarizing attachment.. I think I’m missing a piece

Hey y’all! I recently bought an Olympus BH2 BHTU with a polarizing attachment near the head and it has the sliding piece on it. See picture.

It can be seen just above the turret head and just below the trinocular dovetail piece.

I looked into some forum pages and manuals and I think I’m missing at least one piece which is the U-POT polarizing lens that goes above the lamp. Anything else? Thank you all for your help. I’m rather new and unfamiliar with all this.

You need a polarizer above the lamp as you suspected. The U-POT is fine, and what it was designed to use, but they're relatively expensive and a bit hard to find. Get yourself a 45mm linear (not circular) photography polarizer. Anything sized to fit the light port or larger (even a little smaller) will work. Pretty cheap and excellent performance. I've used photo linear polarizers for years instead of the U-POT.

Could you just swap their order?

I think he only has one, the upper analyzer.

It's a bit confusing since the pictured scope has two separate accessories between the nosepiece and head.

Hey there! Thanks for the response. So the black piece above the objectives is the polarizing attachment. The cream colored piece with the side arm is a teaching head attachment. The black part is the only polarizing piece. Hope this helps!

A circular polarizing filter over the field lens can work fine;
flipped over, output is linearly polarized.
Metaphot, Optiphot 1, 66; AO 10, 120, EPIStar, Cycloptic
