How does one delete a post that is no longer relevant?

Generally not, and it's not encouraged on forums anyway. Unlike modern social media there's more permanence to discussions and it's easy to go back to older posts years later for reference. In theory you can edit a post blank but it's usually not a great look.

But - you can delete a post if no one has replied to it - so at least you have a chance of changing your mind if you get there first.
