DF on low power stereo microscope?
DF on low power stereo microscope?
Methods the same as a compound??
Re: DF on low power stereo microscope?
Saw a pic on a FB group that used one of those cheap rechargeable ring lights (for the dreaded selfies) that was quite nice. A nice DF shot. Anyone try one of these?

The methods are very different for transmitted darkfield on a stereo. There are a few different ways to set it up depending on your needs and budget--easiest is usually to get a research grade stand that already has it, but there are ways to DIY it.

Yes, the pic I saw with a simple selfie ring light was very good..... Just received this one. Selfie Ring Light, XINBAOHONG Rechargeable Portable Clip-on Selfie Fill Light with 36 LED Took off the clip for phone and it fits under my stereo scope glass stage...... $7.99 and USB rechargeable 3 brightness settings. Haven't tried DF yet but as a transparent light source it is great!

You can get good darkfield with just side lighting. One in each direction and proper positioning will remove some glare you might get.
Here's a fast one taken with B&L SZ7 and side lighting.
