Tryblionella under darkfield and oblique darkfield

#1 Post by Hobbyst46 » Wed Apr 14, 2021 9:33 pm

This freshwater Tryblionella gracilis (or Nitzchia Tryblionella), length 109um, is poorly resolved under light microscopy. Even in Pleurax.
In the oblique image (photo 1) contrast was enhanced. Illumination was amber-filtered cool LED.
Photo 2 is plain darkfield, with unfiltered cool LED light. Turret condenser D position was used, and was watered to the bottom of the slide. The auxiliary lens holder was then rotated to partially block the illumination. Different angles of the light beam produced photos 3-5, oblique darkfield images. These images were only resized and cropped.

Wow, rotating in that auxiliary lens holder to different degrees produced some really nice effects. Great images!
