Anyone using Hoffman Modulation Contrast for pond life?

Here you can discuss different microscopic techniques and illumination methods, such as Brightfield, Darkfield, Phase Contrast, DIC, Oblique illumination, etc.

Anyone using Hoffman Modulation Contrast for pond life?

#1 Post by Dubious » Wed Jun 23, 2021 6:45 pm

Does Hoffman Modulation Contrast work well for protists and other pond life, or is the result too grey and colorless? I would like to try an inverted microscope for pond life, and Hoffman or DIC would be a bonus. But I have picked up hints that with pond life, Hoffman MC may produce a more colorless image than with phase contrast or DIC. Does anyone know the answer?
