COL & phase contrast

COL & phase contrast

Hi All,

I am a bit confused. I was playing with my phase contrast condenser and trying to achieve COL on my 40x (non phase contrast objective). COL is easy on the 10x but I couldn't quite get it on my 40x. And then I got this:



This looks like phase contrast but this objective does not have an annulus. What black magic is this?
