DIC with Leitz Wetzlar Dialux
DIC with Leitz Wetzlar Dialux
Is there another Wollaston prism between the interference objectives and the analyser on this microscope?
Re: DIC with Leitz Wetzlar Dialux
It depends on the illumination. Yes with reflected light, no with transient light.
Re: DIC with Leitz Wetzlar Dialux
Thank you Alexander. That's encouraging.
Re: DIC with Leitz Wetzlar Dialux
The downside ist that DIC components for Leitz microscopes sell at a ridiculous price level. A transient light set consisting of a DIC condenser, 3 Objectives and the analyzer are from 2.000 to 5.000 USD.
Re: DIC with Leitz Wetzlar Dialux
This is the thing I don't understand....I thought that one of the key components for DIC was a second prism between the objectives and the analyser. Unless each objective has this prism within it?
Re: DIC with Leitz Wetzlar Dialux
Yes, Leitz used the Smith DIC which requires a Wollaston prism in every single objective. That's why you need ICT-objectives to achieve DIC.
Re: DIC with Leitz Wetzlar Dialux
Aaaahhh thank you Alexander. That's exactly what I wanted to know. If you're ever near Bolton Lancashire, call in and I'll make you a chip butty.
Re: DIC with Leitz Wetzlar Dialux
Following on from Alexander's reply re DIC objectives for Leitz Wetzlar Dialux. My next question is, are there any for sale out there?
Re: DIC with Leitz Wetzlar Dialux
I'm going to hang fire on my DIC search for now because my immediate need is to find a x25 phase objective for my Leitz Wetzlar Dialux. Are there any for sale out there?
Re: DIC with Leitz Wetzlar Dialux
This is an example for an overpriced offer:

Next problem: The objectives were factory-centered on the nose-piece. You can't just put them into your microscope and hope they work. You need some expert to re-center them for your system.

I see. It gets" complicateder and complicateder ". I'll wait a bit I think. But thank you to those who have come to my aid.

Re: DIC with Leitz Wetzlar Dialux
It's nuts, you could assemble an infinity Nikon system with wider fields and better photography potential for less.
Re: DIC with Leitz Wetzlar Dialux
The offering from Thilo Immel ist pretty good. That is a very reliable and trustworthy source.
Yes: DIC is much more affordable in the Nikon, Olympus and Zeiss world.

Re: DIC with Leitz Wetzlar Dialux
Thanks Tony but I have now got a x25 phase objective. I'm not sure what the import costs are but from what I hear it's not cheap.
Am I right in saying that you have a 420a condenser too?
Cheers Frank

Re: DIC with Leitz Wetzlar Dialux
Further to the post citing Thilo Himmel, I've been in touch with them and just today received an email saying that they only trade within EU because of costs. So my hunt for a 402a Leitz condenser goes on.

Hi Tony
Thanks for the input but I've found a 402a now and much closer to home.
