Hi Folks - I am sure many of us have seen microbes lit up like Christmas trees under polarized light, often Ciliates. For example I took this snap this morning of a Paramecium (sorry for the glare!) -
This article provides some fascinating insights into why this occurs.
After reading this I suspect my Paramecium was very well nourished? Hope you find it as interesting as I did.
