Hello from The Netherlands

#1 Post by WWWW » Fri Sep 16, 2022 6:30 am

Hello,

as you can see from the subject title, I am from The Netherlands and I like looking through my microscope.
Especially to the unknown world in a drop of water.

It's a whole unknown world in that water.
I use the book Das Leben im Wassertropfen, a great book which covers many organisms.
But, there are so many organisms and some of them I can't identify and I hope in this forum are people who can help me.

Greetings,
WWWW

Hi WWWW,

Welcome to the forum! It is a great place to learn and share. One source you may find useful to help identify what you are seeing in your pond water samples is the book by Kreutz and Foissner. The photos are spectacular and I use it a lot to help identify organisms that I see. You can download a pdf from this site: http://www.wfoissner.at/data_prot/Kreut ... _1-267.pdf

Hi WWWW,
Welcome. I will have to search for your source, being Australian-Dutch citizen by marriage, it will allow me to keep up my Dutch while I am living in Australia.

*edit: Oh wait, it is in German. I am not *that* multi-lingual unlike many Dutch people! But if you find any Dutch sources I would love a link to them!

The Netherlands should have plenty of interesting sites for freshwater samples that is for sure.

Here is a link to my own source found I think through someone here.
http://www.wfoissner.at/publications.htm

I found the "Freshwater Biology" useful as a beginner.
