Hi,
My name is Larry. I had a very cheap microscope with fixed objective lenses when I was about 10 and enjoyed it a lot until other teenage interests kicked in. I don't know what happened to that old microscope. It was on my bucket list to buy a better microscope some day but thought it was kind of a frivolous thing to spend money on. The other day I found a like new microscope at a tag sale for 5 dollars that was much better quality than the one I had when I was a kid so I purchased it and my first interest is to collect some pond water to check out.

Congrats! It's amazing the deals that appear on microscppes sometimes. If you'd like to know more about your scope feel free to post some pictures.
