180mm tube length using a 160mm obj
hey, i have a scope with a 180mm tube length.
Would there be anyway to use objectives for 160 or 210 on my scope?
if so, how?
Thanks.

How do you know it has a 180mm tube length?

i called the company and asked their parts department to measure for me
Re: 180mm tube length using a 160mm obj
Assuming those are ‘finite’ tube lengths : 160mm would be tricky, but 210mm should only be a matter of adding a 30mm extension tube for the eyepiece.microscopeboi wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 9:31 pmhey, i have a scope with a 180mm tube length.

If it’s an ‘infinity’ microscope with a 180mm ‘tube lens’ then it’s a different story !
Make an model, or some photos, of the instrument would help.

it is a chinese brand scope named 'amscope'. it is this exact one:
https://www.amscope.com/40x-1000x-plan- ... scope.html
I have it fitted with infinity corrected nikon objectives but i would like to upgrade those to planf or planapo except all infinity corrected versions of those are very expensive. I believe there is a tube lens in the scope.

Re: 180mm tube length using a 160mm obj
I asked because I know of no fixed tube microscope with coverslip corrected optics that has a 180mm tube length. So this is an infinity corrected microscope. When you speak of 160mm objectives those are from a fixed tube microscope and are seldom useful on an infinity stand.
To upgrade that to plan fluorite or plan apochromat you would best to look for Olympus pattern objectives because that is what is almost for sure in there. Infinity corrected microscopes have a tube length too, called a reference length. Olympus uses 180mm. Amscope carries a set of PlanF. Have you asked them about those?
Alternately, you could try to buy some used Olympus objectives on-line but whatever you do, look for infinity corrected objectives.

Sorry for the delayed response
Apochnonaut has already covered the matter nicely, but I think you might also find it useful to read this page: https://www.microscopyu.com/microscopy- ... al-systems
