Hi guys
My trusty Leitz Laborlux S came with 5 Leitz Wetzlar objectives giving x4,x10,x25,x40 and the last one x100 which is labelled Wetlzar 160/0.17, NPL Fluotar 100/1.32 OEL. Would I be correct in thinking it's for use with oil as it doesn't show a great deal of detail without?.
Thanks
Steve

Re: Objective ID please.
Thanks for info, I think maybe it might need a clean- just lens cloth and cleaner ok?. I've never used an oil objective before so will have to checkout the do's and dont's of that

Re: Objective ID please.
correct. use whatever the objective has been corrected for, otherwise the image quality will suffer. occasionally, an objective will perform reasonably well with several mediums, for instance both water and oil but that is rare. I have only encountered 1 or 2.
the 160X objective mentioned above sounds like it might be a metallurgical objective, many of which were intended for dry ( air spaced ) use.
