I have no idea the specifics of the Nikon universal achr-apl con.a 1.4, but I made some replacements for some AO condensers that work well with all the condensers AO made that I have to try, about 6 or 7 models.
I'm certainly not an optical expert, but I think matching diameter of the lens and the condenser, as well as having a short focal length (25mm for the AO) seemed to work pretty well. I don't recall the price I paid for the lenses offhand, but I believe it was less that $10.00.
