Help me identify these Zeiss parts

#1 Post by Gatorengineer64 » Wed Oct 20, 2021 10:00 pm

We have three sliders one badly delaminated or otherwise failed. The one with the micrometer has a Zeiss part number but I can't seem to find the link to the Zeiss master parts list. The condenser appears to be a phase but it has two iris sections in it and the phase cells are very shiny, also red lettering 1.4 achromatic. Is this a DIC condenser or just a different phase? The other small slider has a center able black circle and came from the Illuminator of an Inverted standard what is it?

Starting from the left,
-First is a rotating analyzer for POL microscopy
-Second is for Darkfield stop for an inverted scope
-Third is an analyzer
-Forth is a single beam DIC slide which has a analyzer on one side and DIC prism on the other side. It seems to be badly delaminated. The knob on the end can be rotated to position the DIC prism.
-The condenser seems to have multiple iris leaves which would indicate it has DIC prisms. The stops with the iris usually holds the DIC prism as well as the open position for normal brightfield. Usually the top cover would have an arrow on it and inscribed Inko but it may have been changed. These also have two phase annali which one can be seen in the second picture. The DIC prisms are clear-glass like.
-The other piece is a intermediate piece which holds the different slides.

Thanks Charles, any way of telling what the unmarked analyzer is?

There were two types of these sliders:
The early version fitted until 1961, first Version Phomi 1 and Universal 1 and contained a lens in both positions. I think the analyser is for this model.
The DIC slider is marked with a number; II is for tube head microscopes, III is for the smaller models.
