Wondering if there are general standards for the direction that objectives are mounted. When on the microscope do you spin clockwise or counter clockwise to increase magnification.
Maybe lefty loosely (lower mag) righty tighty (higher mag)?
Objective mounting standards? CW or CCW

That is a personal choice but clockwise is likely more common. It may be a right hand preference and CCW a left hand preference. In some cases, such as if there is a rotary condenser carousel which has been mfg. to go either way in sequence , it makes sense to rotate the objectives in the same direction.
There is another arbiter that comes into effect with cheaper microscopes, since better stands are sometimes hand finished for adjustment and as well naturally more precise. Parcentering.
There are 2X the number of objective arrangements as there are positions in the nosepiece and one of them is sometimes the best in terms of parcentering. It could be either CW or CCW, so that might determine which is used.
