Zeiss condenser question

#1 Post by tlansing » Thu Nov 03, 2022 1:28 pm

I have a simple question about a Zeiss phase contrast/DIC condenser. I would like to clean the underside of the 0.63 condenser lens. There are 3 screws that attach this lens to a flange (see arrow in photo below) which holds it above the rotating turret of the condenser. If I remove this lens by loosening these screws, does the lens have to be re-centered when it is replaced and the screws tightened to hold the lens in place? If so, how is the best way to do this?

Do you mean the 0,32 lens? There are two holes that can be used to unscrew it using a spanner.

Hi Wes,

You are correct on both points and thanks for reminding me about using a spanner wrench.
