Steve,

It looks much like the Union Optical Co. (Japan) logo.

Yeah, that is union. They sold scopes to a lot of rebadgers, particularly unitron but also wesco and others. They're still around too.

Thanks to PeteM I have found the brand. The only information I had was that it was used in this DZ3 High Magnification & High Resolution Zoom Microscope old model (replaced with the DZ4).

Yes, the company still around selling precision instruments.

The old logo has evolved as you can see that was used in their old products and only the the red name logo was kept.

Thank you PeteM for your help.

It was common in the cases of numerous companies to adopt a stylized group of lenses and or prisms as a logo and sometimes fit a name in there. Bausch & Lomb went through various versions of their inverted prism and at one time , when the triple alliance was active it included the nsmes Zeiss and Saegmuiier as well as B & L. It seemed to peak in Japan , where the actual names took some time to establish but the hope was that the logo would be reconizable.

Nippon Kogaku earlier, about up to 1954 used no name on their objectives, just the Nippon Kogaku bi-convex lens transitting an equalateral prism. It is usually seen with the words Nippon Kogaku Tokyo entered into the 3 sections created by the design but on early objectives it is just the blocked out design. I looked for a while to find old Nippon Kogaku objectives to restore an old horseshoe research stand to no avail. I suspect many, once removed from the stand were abandoned in drawers or tossed in a cleanup. The word Nikon showed up around 1954. In the 1980's I came across a Chinese objective that had the blank Nippon Kogaku logo but not quite. The N.K. prism has plane edges, so is 6 sided, not 3 sided with points as in the Chinese factory style..

Hi Steve,
I have a PL M100/0.90 oo (410590) from Union Optical.
The logo is the same as on our lens.
BTW, this lens has a very good performance.
Best, ADi

I got a set of their splms (plan apo metallurgical), all badly delaminated. Real bummer.
