Hello!
i ordered from Ebay Nikon Plan Apo 20x objective. Optics work very well, but actually i recognize that protection spring doesn`t work. Is every 20x Nikon Plan APO spring loaded? I am asking becuse i know some of them are, i know either that there are black series, newer ones no spring loaded but i didn`t hear about silver without spring.
Thanks for help

Re: Nikon Plan Apo 20x
Yours should have a spring action. It can be stuck from being dropped and the shell slightly deformed, corrosion, immersion oil dried, or attempts to lube it followed by oxidized oil.
I believe there are past posts on how to unstick it. The good news, for now, is that yours appears to be stuck in the down position.
If you find that post, it will suggest various remedies such as gentle heat, safe solvents, disassembly and cleaning, use of collets to grab the end and get it moving, removing the back stop and manually moving the lens carrier back and forth, etc. Once you get it moving again, it may behave better. If not, you may want to disassemble it and carefully clean it. Ideally, you won't have to use any oil where the inner barrel slides inside the outer barrel.
