Siedentopf adjustment of Binocular Head

#1 Post by garyjm » Fri May 03, 2024 3:16 am

I have an Amscope T690 microscope and the binocular head Siedentopf adjustment slips causing the tubes to go out of adjustment for my eyes.

I'm wondering if there is some way to adjust the tension of the binocular head? I see some screws but do not want to mess anything up without knowing what I'm doing.

Here is the microscope: https://amscope.com/products/c-t690/?va ... 8648886447

Here is a photo of the binocular viewer:

Thanks!

A guess is that the center cap (with the interpupillary distance markings) unscrews or pops off - revealing a nut or other adjustment to draw the binocular tubes closer together and tighter. Failing that, a complete re-lube with a damping grease might be an option.

Thanks PeteM.

I have emailed Amscope on this too and hope to hear back soon.

I just heard back from Amscope on this. The fix is to adjust (tighten) the two small screws on both sides of the larger screws. There is one set of smaller screws for each half of the binocular viewer so depending on which side is loose, you would just tighten those.

I'm hoping others may see this and it will help them too if they have the same issue.
