DIN Objective Adapter

#1 Post by MicroMan2 » Sat May 28, 2016 2:26 am

So I manage acquired a 8x objective with a Lomo or Zeiss style with the numbers "631872". Initially I couldn't make use of the objective until I raised the stage to the highest level. My question is, is there an adapter that can "lengthen" the objective so that working distances aren't extremely long.

Another thing is whether a adapter is needed for Zeiss Jena DIN's

Here are spacers/extenders of two different lengths: 15 mm and 7 mm. One may get you close. Others may suggest other solutions.

For an 8x objective, the change in tube length my not affect image quality too much (but this is only my guess-- experts may disagree).

That was because you used a short 33mm parfocal LOMO on 45 mm parfocal (DIN pfd) scope. Longer working distance actually helps in your case for focusing, as with short WD, short LOMO objective won't focus on DIN scope at all.

If your short LOMO objective works on DIN scope, then you don't need to do anything. Unless you want to make LOMO Parfocal with other 45 mm pfd objective. Then 12 mm extension is best (45-33=12).

You don't need extender for DIN objectives on DIN scope. Note that LOMO offered both 33 mm pfd short pbjective s and 45 mm pfd DIB objectives. Likely Zeiss Jena did the same thing. You need to make sure which (length) version you are buying.

Actually the reason why I needed the extender is because I have to raise my stage so high up that it touches the spring loaded high mags objectives. This lowers the objectives so that the others would be fine.
