Nikon Camera Lucida help required

#1 Post by RobBerdan » Tue Apr 21, 2020 4:03 am

I recently purchased a Nikon camera lucida from Ebay and I thought it would be straight forward to use - attach it above the objective turret and below the trinocular head, focus and use it to make a tracing. However I am not getting any light output to a a piece of paper. I turn the lights off in the room, but no projection - I have turned all the knobs it has. If anyone has any experience with the Nikon camera lucida and could give me some pointers I would appreciate it. Otherwise I will be taking it apart so to see why its not directing light downward - it could be missing a prism I am not sure. I could not find any instructions online on its use. Nikon Optiphot F head is also weird, in ordrer for the light to go to the trinocular tube - you need turn the head to the left - strange most scopes have a prism slider.

If anyone has used this device would appreciate any instructions or advice for its use.

It is not supposed to output light, it is supposed to input light! Instead of turning off the room lights you need to shine a bright light on the piece of paper. That way you will see your pen and paper when looking through the eyepieces.
