Nikon E Plan series Objectives

#1 Post by Parafly » Sat Jun 06, 2020 10:33 pm

I have E Plan objectives on my Labophot for phase contrast. I can't find a lot of information on the E Plan series. How do these compare the the CFI Plan Achro? If I was looking to upgrade these what Nikon phase objectives would you recommend? Thanks!

"E" stands for "Economical". 'E' objectives are their lowest tier objectives, with 'E plan' being more planar. That said, even nikon's E objectives are pretty good.

So what you are basically saying here is that Plans are more suited for static flat objects where full even/flat detail is needed like a butterfly wing, to provide even detail across the entire plane. And since pond critters thend to move and we observe one at a time while moving in x/y/z , plan correction is not that important as we keep them mostly in the center of fov. More important is the correction for chromatic aberrations etc...
I'm learning so correct me if I'm wrong.
