What's going on here with these critters?
What's going on here with these critters?
Can anyone tell me what's going on here? I'm fairly new to microscopy other than 40 some years ago as a university bio major, and as a gemologist. But that's totally different than trying to ID microscopic flora and fauna. Any help will be appreciated. I'm thinking an amoeba eating a daphnia. The daphnia I'm pretty sure of. (As an aside, if anyone can give me tips on embedding a YouTube video so that the video opens on the forum post and not just a link I'd appreciate it. I tried and tried, and searched and searched.)

Unfortunately your video on youtube is not reachable as it is declared private...
Form the photo, it does not look like an amoeba to me.

Great shot!
It's a planarian, eating an ostracod.
It may be interesting, that the planarian had already eaten an thecamoeba - an amoebo with a "shell".

So I was incorrect on both IDs. Thank you for your info, Michael. Really helps.
