I hate to say this, but that just looks like a blur to me old chap - you'll need to give us an image that actually looks like something for any constructive comments. Sorry to be critical my friend. :)

I agree with John.. You need to do more to try to improve on this.. This photo looks like nothing... You might try doing a thin section and stain it and go to higher mag..

Take a look at some of the work that others are posting... Practice until you can closely duplicate it..

But I just got started in this
This Pay Day I be getting a smart phone adopter for my microscope, as for stains I have to try iodine or food coloring until I can get the stains.
Still have to get isopropyl anchol and lens cleaning cloth an eye dropper and tweezers a razor craft knife.

MicroInspector , looks like a blur to me also but don't be discouraged or quit. Some hard feed back but good job even on getting an image and "Sticking your neck out" to post it. You should see some of my first images!

Looking forward to more images with your adopter.

That Jim is good advice! The posting of first images is always a terrifying time! I too remember some of the horrors I produced as I started - the fine folks here helped me along, as they will MicroInspector for certain.

I would suggest that you try something like a hair or a very small piece of tissue paper.

As Bill said - your choice of the onion skin was a good one to help you to get it right.
Your next step is to make sure the camera is steady, level and focused. If you stick to simple, see-through, flat and above all thin (so that light can go through it to your lens) samples you should begin to get better.
Forget anything from an animal for now - animal tissue is far harder to image than plant.

Practice - you'll get there if you do. :)

I take it from the note on the images that you are using 25x eyepieces?

If you have 10x eyepieces I would strongly recommend using them instead. The exit pupil of the higher magnification make lining up the camera much more difficult.

Try 10x eyepieces with your 10x objective. Start with low power, master that, and then increase. The goal is photos that look as sharp as you see with your own eyes at the eyepiece.

The pictures are a good start.
That is what all of your critics had as images, probably not even as good at one time. Tissue is hard to image because there is little contrast.
Try turmeric as a stain, it usually works well. Sometimes paprika will work, depending on from which peppers it was made and by who. Look for Spanish or Hungarian. The Israeli stuff is garbage. Saffron is generally expensive but there is a lousy cheap one from China, that is widely available. It is terrible saffron but makes a decent dye.
Other possibilities are to cook a small beet, or a small amount of red cabbage in little water. You will get a strong red dye from the beet and a blue dye from the cabbage but unless they are fixed somehow, they will fade. Maybe extracting a little from the vegetable tissue with alcohol would work, I haven't tried it. They might make a good temporary stain, nonetheless.

And some blood flew on to cloth interria in the car.

These are getting better.
Keep trying and keep posting.
Hair is a good thing to have a go at -> it was the first thing I tried.

One fairly cheap adapatation for hair is get linear polarising filters.

e.g. https://www.amazon.com/Polarizing-Film- ... ng+plastic

You then need one circle of the sheet in the head of the microscope, where the light comes from the lens tube. You need another filter to cover the light coming out of the light source.
Turn the sheet/circle cut from the sheet until the background goes black.
Some of the hairs will display bright colours.

Anyway, keep going you are getting more skillful already.

MicroInspector, what you are probably not appreciating (when I started out I didn't either) is how thin your specimens need to be.
The cover slips we use are about 0.17mm thick. Specimens need to be at least ten times thinner then the cover slip to produce good images
Your objectives will be corrected for a coverslip thickness of 0.17 this is in fact the thickness of the entire preparation cover slip including specimen.
Low magnification objectives are more tolerant of thicker preparations but by the time you reach 40x they need to be spot on. You don't notice this at
first because you have nothing to compare it with, but as you gain experience you will start to appreciate what a good image looks like.
