Re: Amphileptus sp. Maybe Marinus?
Beautiful document of a lovely ciliate! It is not Amphileptus, or any pleurostomatid. The long peristome is fringed with adoral membranelles, so this is clearly a heterotrich. I believe it is a genus of marine heterotrich called Gruberia, possibly Gruberia lanceolata (or something similar).

Unbelievable. The creature moves with such grace, blind and silent.

I had a minute to go over the literature, and I do think it can be called Gruberia lanceolata. Good redescription, here: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/a ... 3917301918

Re: Amphileptus sp. Maybe Marinus?
Thank you so much Bruce! What would we do without you! I was looking in literature and certainly thought it was an amphileptus. Now I know it was wrong. It is difficult to identify but very fun. I will change to Gruberia lanceolata and thanks for the link, very informative. //KD

What is the arthropod-looking thing that shows up in your video? I've seen those on flowers and plant tissue I've been examining. It must be a larva.

It's a full-grown one-eyed crustacean called a copepod.
