Renovation rubble, part 2

Part 1 of Renovation Rubble the thin section thickness was approx. 110 microns. The sample has been polished a bit more and now is approx. 90 microns.
My thickness calculations in the past have ignored the layer of epoxy bonding the specimen to the glass slide. That omission resulted in a couple of specimens being ground down to oblivion. One level below purgatory.

The renovation rubble specimen of approx 50mm in diameter was picked at random from a pile of broken concrete removed from an apartment building renovation. Hence the name Renovation Rubble.

In this presentation, photos 1 and 2 are fron the first grinding/polishing session. Photo 3 is a full specimen scan of 32 photos composited by the Microsoft ICE programme.

Are you able to make any determinations as to the mineral content of the pieces of aggregate ?

I am in the process of making seven thin sections. When they are finished, I hope to identify some of the minerals with this wonderful book "Rocks and Minerals in thin section".

The accuracy of the mineral identification will depend on the acuteness of my wife's colour perception. You certainly don't expect me to take the blame.
I use electronic tools (Xrite DTP 20 and ColorShopX) and every one knows you cannot depend on computers.

That looks like a pretty good reference. Are you color blind ?

Yes. Not totally, just some of the pastel and near colours.
That is why I calibrate my monitors, computers and printers using hardware colour calibrating tools.
