Or just a real hard rock, sandpaper want really cut it. Looks like fossil bone to me?? In any event notice the patterns, the zoom function may work better.
Photo taken at 40x magnification with top LED lights. This section was busted out of a larger sand stone rock.

Thanks for those wonderful articles, I want be able to slice the fossil rock bone down at this time with any equipment I have, but microscope photo does give a glimpse into the very distant past. More than likely impossible to determine for sure what animal it was.
