Is it a fossil or just an interesting shape
Re: Is it a fossil or just an interesting shape
Post it over at the fossil forum, someone will tell you what it is. They may ask for a little more info.

Fossil forum?
I do not have any more information other than it is a thin section I made of a black coloured stone found along a community trail.

Maybe you will get some replies... It certainly looked like a fossilized worm or larvae to my untrained eyes...

What size is that?
It looks very like a fragment of an Ostracod shell.
Cheers,
Steve

I notice one identification of your fossil over at the fossil forum at this time.

The size of the "worm" is approx .65 mm wide and 3mm long.

Re: Is it a fossil or just an interesting shape
3mm is probably too big for an ostracod fragment so "Shelly debris" is probably what I would have put it down as.
What was the suggestion on the other forum?
Cheers,
Steve

This is the replay from Fossildude19
"It is actually multiple fossils.
The item on the right appears to be a Bryozoan. Maybe a Coral.
The other item appears to be a cross section through a valve of a brachiopod, or pelecypod.
The dark roundish object middle left may be an internal mold of a brachiopod.
This looks to be what we would call a "Hash Plate", or a mixture of different species of sea animals/critters from an ancient sea. "

I didn't realise the top image zoomed when I was looking at it on my phone - doh!
I would agree with everything that Fossildude19 said there. A nice section.
Cheers

We have a section over at the fossil forum called micro-paleontology, where members use microscopes at times to look at small sections of samples. A few of the members of the forum are paleontologist and seem to be very good at what they do. The ID section seems to be a big favorite. I noticed a section on evolution a few minutes ago.
