Newbie learns to take images, dtsh edition

Quick images taken to get an idea of what to expect from an AO Cycloptic. As you can see, I didn't clean either.

I decided to choose a Cuckoo wasp to image, for a few weeks last summer I was getting a couple of these as incindental captures in my trap. Their exoskeleton is quite rigid and it was difficult to pierce with a pin.

Nice, if you get around to taking any images with it I would like to see them.

Here's what I think was the best image of the day today. AO Series 35 (same line of optics as an AO Series 2). The eyepiece isn't the original AO one, but it serves. My usual imaging system of RPi HQ camera perched atop the monocle. Objective is a 160mm TL 43x uncoated.

Rather than pile onto fdpure's thread and possibly derailing it viewtopic.php?p=120466#p120466

This is today's attempt doing something different from what I typially do; a different AO10 from my usual, using a 4x plan objective (Cat.1017) but with the subject held in freespace pinned to a bit of foam wedged into the stage. Lighting was supplied by the 2x 3W LED gooseneck I use with the Cycloptic stereo with a paper ring around the subject to diffuse the lighting. The subject is a female Dermacentor variabilis (tick). 32 images stacked using my typical process and camera.

It's been a while since I've done much playing around with imaging, but I'm trying to test out a new LED refit for the AO10 and decided to play with some darkfield for a bit.
Subject is pollen from Stellaria media "Chickweed" at 1000x, stack of 33 images. I need to work with some of the settings, the second is image is one of the source frames.
I don't recall staining these, but they're been in the box with other slides for a couple of years and my memory is, as always, perfect except for the things I don't remember or misremember.
