A big piece of bacteria biofilm, formed from the slow decay of a leaf in my mud puddle, was filled with diatoms. Many of the diatoms were seen moving about the surface of the water. It was a visual feat of ciliates and diatoms.

I always see them. Maybe not the fancy ones, but these mobile ones and simpler forms. Some are quite small.

Very beautiful and impressive, even though not sharp and colorful.

I don't know why it's not colorul. It's set for color. i think there is just not that much color at those magnifications. I usually use the 60x objective, resulting in 1,000X or thereabouts.
