Among the Growing Roots

I have viewed before the water in which plants are rooting. At times I saw nothing and at times I saw storms of algae blooms. This time looked like the beginning of a process that hasn't matured yet. Some unhappy organisms and bits of a developing algae presence.

Don,
Sorry to be so blunt, however: there should be some colors in those subjects you recorded in videos.
I think your condenser may be set too low; or condenser iris / illuminator field iris closed down too much.
I like your poems and enthusiasm, by the way!
Sincerely,
Frank

Thanks Frank.
Color: I do use the 60x objective mostly. Maybe there is just little color at that magnification. I get color at lower magnifications. When I jack up saturation in my siftware, contrast suffers.

Don,
Here is a video with color that I took 5 years ago under a 70x NA 1.23 objective, without any software modification.
You are certainly right in that its color reproduction is not as vibrant as a good 10x:
https://youtu.be/a1BYrzTF60M
However, we should see at least some green (chlorophyll), brown (diatoms) or red (eye spot) in protists, no matter what objective magnification.
I don't want to be harsh or rude, however I honestly suspect there is something not optimal in your 60x objective setup.

I'll work on that. It may be a software issue.
Re: Among the Growing Roots
Zzffnn and Don, I just found both of your you tube channels. Subscribed to both... please keep putting out content! I can’t get enough, Jim.

What a nice thing to say. Thanks. Of course I will. It's an obsession at this point.
Re: Among the Growing Roots
Soon I will be looking at my own “wee beasties”, but I love to watch you tube videos ! Thanks, Jim.
