Large ciliates are back in the mud puddle, living among the massive population of bacteria, algae, and tiny flagellates. I make photographic them into a recreational sport--centering, focusing, and lighting where I can.

I enjoyed the video and the rousing background music.
Are the big ones Vorticella?
It might be interesting to keep a log with dates to record the changes in organisms to get a handle on ecological succession.

Thanks Gerard. Yes they are vorticella. I've seen them with stalks and without stalks. I guess I can go by the dates on the videos. I'm really not scientific--I'm a curious arts devotee.
