Constant Decay

My original mudpuddle is just a stagnant water pool in a constant state of decay. It is populated by the agents of decay, algae in long branches almost like plants, individual cells, and in the form of diatoms enclosed in silicon capsules. Bacteria and tiny organisms like flagellates are barely visible with my microscope. However, among the bacteria are free-living cells and bacteria permanently merged into colonies in the form of biofilm and cyanobacteria strings.
