Colorful Nematode

#1 Post by Javier » Fri Jan 21, 2022 8:01 pm

I usually dislike Nematodes, but today I found a big, colorful one, that I enjoyed observing. It was also very quite, even though the slide was just mounted. It was naked eye visible as a very thin and long filament.

Video details: Amscope b 120 and iPhone 5s. Dark field at 40, 100 and 200 x.

Looks beautiful. Are you using some kind of blue filter next to darkfield?

I'm not using any blue filter, just a transparent plastic filter with a dark patch in its center. To get the better on DF with the 20x objective, I have to play with the condenser a bit. When raising or lowering it, the condenser cast a more yellowish or blueish light. The more blueish is more representative of the image, as you can see on this two frames of previous videos with the condenser at one point or the other. When I add saturation to the video, the blueish hue is surely accentuated. Other than that, there is quite a lot of chromatic aberration from the objectives.
