sink-stink

#1 Post by jwsmith » Sat Aug 29, 2015 7:19 pm

Odor-producing kitchen-rag. VERY stinky.
Obtained fluid from.
Introduced Methylene Blue...aqueous slide/coversliip/oil immersion 1000x
The object has so little depth that "stacking" was not useful.
Methylene Blue did nothing for spore definition but caused rod/bacteria to emerge.
Two spores.
Large/Small...this size distribution was common, the small being more frequent.
Possible spore of Oidium Sp......a family of powerdy mildew molds...common to "brought-in vegetables"
No distinctive surface texture or shape-features. Shape: purely circular to slightly angular
No defined internal structure.

It is SPECULATION that the mycilleum of THESE spores are related to production of foul-smelling gas.
Several slides, however, produced no other evident spores.
As said....rod bacteria that at o n e e n d heavily accepted Methylene Blue....were as or more numerous than spores.
