Centrophyxis Amoeba
Centrophyxis Amoeba
A new find for me. About 60um's. Taken with Canon 60D and 20X obj.
Re: Centrophyxis Amoeba
Lovely amoeba image. Why do you think it is Centrophyxis? (I'm not implying it is not, only that I wouldn't have thought it was one).
Re: Centrophyxis Amoeba
Nice image. That is some seriously large alga!
Re - Amoeba: if those are Pseudopodia they are remarkably regular. Seem more like tendrils.
Did you manage any closer views?

Re: Centrophyxis Amoeba
Thanks all.
Centrophyxis is a guess because it looks like the drawing in a book I have and the size is right. But, the book says "Found in sphagnum moss" and this was in pond water. It definitely projected and retracted its "feet" and when I went back to it there were no pseudopodia visible and none were projected again..
Open to any other suggestions.
