Unmeasurably small slips of living matter are the what I tend to see under the microscope. Sometimes these tiny things (organisms, beings, life forms) just seem to shiver and spin meaninglessly and sometimes they behave in what appears to be a purposive manner (not implying consciousness of course). The most immeasurable small often do what the larger ones do.

Sometimes it's hard not to imagine some form of consciousness in these little beings. Last week I had a slide with a few paramecia and they had all grouped in one area. Then one eased alongside another and they just sat peacefully still for a some ten seconds, before both hurrying off to their daily business.
But consciousness is probably just an illusion.

Thought from such things has been debated for some time with no real solution. Some regard reaction to stimuli as thought. Others certainly don't. So, here we go!

The real debate is one between realism and poetry. I always choose poetry but what do I know.
