Bumblebee

#1 Post by fdupre » Fri Jul 29, 2022 8:45 am

Hi friends,

I share with you a bumblebee, which literally "fell" dead from exhaustion on my desk with this heat that we have in Paris, seen from the side and from the front in studio macro photography mode.
Taken with a Canon Dmk2 and a Sigma 105mm lens. Lighting with two led lamps on the left and on the right and a little above the subject.

Hello friends,

I share with you the left antenna of the bumblebee under the microscope with 10x objective
(It is missing a piece at the top left of the image below. I count 6 "pieces" in the photos of this post while I count 7 or 8 pieces on the top of the left antenna of the image of the front face bumblebee from the previous post)

What camera and lens did you use (or did I miss that)?

Bumblebee looks quite friendly, unlike the flies...
Great images

Try putting the bee in some water and vinegar for a few days
You might find an intersting payload of mites fall off it to the bottom of the container
The mites use the bee for transportation rather than being parasites - although thry do live innthr bees nests

Hi there,

DonSchaeffer: The equipment for the macro version of the Bumblebee is a Canon 5Dmk2 with a Sigma 105 mm macro lens and for the aerial of the Bumblebee the equipment is a microscope Bresser science infinity.
Thank you RMB for the tip and thank you imkap for your feedback.

Friendship,
Frank
