The lawn around the house is passing through the same transformation as other northern lawns, not really dying but retreating underground. The leaves are closing down their operations for the Winter. Different grass species close down at different rates. I examined leaves of two similar grass species. One showed pretty drastic structural disintegration, the other retained structural integrity longer.
