I keep returning to my stagnant water sample because it keeps evolving. Last time I looked the range of organisms had narrowed and the biofilm was missing. This time, a week later, the biofilm is back and the rotifers have returned in both number and variety. I think the rotifers so completely dominate the biome that the range of organisms in the population can't expand.
