Hello.
That shimmering ring seems to be a collection of bacteria.
It looks like a traveling shockwave from a Supernova explosion in the microworld.
Come on, this is such a joke.

Re: Cosmic Ring
I'm very sorry.
My mistake.
Already corrected.
It seems to be visible now.
DonSchaeffer, thank you for pointing out my mistake

Re: Cosmic Ring
you're into the cosmos too. It is a false-astrophotography day today... Where would we be without our beloved dust.
By the way, nice video...

Very cool. I once saw the same strange, cosmic phenomenon. It's amazing how quickly the diameter increases - quite clear in the video. I've more frequently seen high bacterial densities form in straight lines, like rivers. Protozoa have occasionally formed lines of high density as well.
Does anyone know why this happens? For the circles, is there something in the center that repels the bacteria or are they simply 'eating' their way outward, dividing as they go? For the straight lines, is there some resource gradient they are following? Why would it be straight lines sometimes and circles in other cases?
Cheers, David

dd5 - unfortunately I can't answer your question. For me, it was a curiosity that I recorded.
imkap - I've always been intrigued by the Cosmos.
When I was much younger, I even wanted to buy myself a telescope to observe the sky.
But long ago, the evening sky was polluted with light.
So I pointed my telescope down and that's how I became interested in microscopy as an amateur.
And besides, it's easier to spot aliens on the glass.
