Petrology Slides

#1 Post by neal Shields » Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:50 pm

I got my petrology slides in from an eBay purchase. I have a DIC microscope but wasn't sure that DIC would work for petrology slides that are normally used with crossed polarizers.

They do!

The following was taken by pulling out the DIC sliders and then pushing them in and twisting the DIC setting knob.

Great fun

You might also try pulling out the prisms and just using the polarizers in your DIC setup, if you want more highly saturated colors.

These are very interesting, but I don't know what I'm looking at.
