Well somehow it turned into a documentary.
The actual microbe (if it is one) is in the second half.

very very nice footage.

The diatom with the two "eyes" is Amphora ovalis.

Nice catch. Indeed, the image will look sharper and better with oil. Oil objectives do not perform well when dry. I think it will be worth the trouble.

Thanks. Yes I have to make the oil purchase sometime.
I was focusing it at 40X and it was just too small so I used the 50X dry.
