The leaves on some of the mature grassy plants on the lawn lose the green color. Patches of the green on the leaves turn to brown. There is a sharp border between the green and brown parts. This constitutes a mystery to me. I know I won't be able to solve the mystery but I want to entertain it. For one thing, the leaf loses half of it's thickness when it turns brown. The cells remain in the brown part, and the cell structures stay about the same. The cells between the green and brown sections are completely distorted suggesting that cut off of circulation in the leaf may be part of the explanation.
