First Stentor Coeruleus!
First Stentor Coeruleus!
After almost three years of looking for one, I finally found a Stentor Coeruleus. It was amazing to observe it through the eyepiece, such a magnificent specimen. I made a register of my observation on bright and dark field at 100, 200 and 400 x. Hope you like it!

Javier,
Very good look you have with that scope.
When I get Stentors they are the Stentor roeselii
(as was my beloved "Stretch.")
I see yours is a fine size by comparing the Paramecium.

Thanks guys for your feedback!
Thank you Dennis. I found two of them and they were indeed huge. Lovely ciliates, definitely my favorites.

Very good tracking, all very smoothly done.
Re: First Stentor Coeruleus!
Thank you, Phill. I'm glad you noticed that. I put a lot of effort on that regard to try to make the videos pleasant to observe. For the Citostome detail at 400 x, I must have taken 10 short videos to get just a few usable seconds. I learned watching tardibabe's awesome videos that sometimes it's a good idea to let the specimen drift out of the field, instead of chasing it in a crazy way, though sometimes that is the only option.
